Irbid Municipality Investing heritage houses in the Tal development project

Khaberni - Emad Al-Azam, head of Irbid Greater Municipality Committee, emphasized the importance of preserving the history, heritage, and identity of Irbid city, and informing the younger generations about it to contribute to enhancing the national identity.

He also confirmed that the municipality is proceeding at an accelerated pace in implementing the Irbid Tal project, which includes the construction of Tal Park and the investment of heritage houses that have been expropriated, in line with the project's goals.

During his meeting on Tuesday with a delegation from the "Al-Wafa for Irbid" initiative, he referred to the municipality's plan to allocate one of the heritage houses as a public library, alongside the immediate development of the Ali Khaleqi Al-Sharairi house into a political and cultural forum in partnership with Yarmouk University, the restoration of the Juma house back to its former status as a heritage hotel in the city center, and the restoration of Al-Jouda Lane and integrating it into Al-Nablusi house for optimal investment.

Al-Azam also mentioned that the municipality has begun preparing a comprehensive study for the development of the municipal stadium and its rehabilitation in partnership with a donor agency, including annexing adjacent lands, and constructing a new training field in Bushra area.

He affirmed that the financial situation of the municipality enables it to implement various service projects and improve the conditions of roads and public cleanliness, meeting the needs of the citizens.

The participants in the meeting agreed to rename the new vegetable market project in downtown to "Souk Sahat Al-Afrah," which is the heritage name of the location, emphasizing the importance of collaborative work in line with the directions of Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, in documenting the Jordanian narrative, preserving the location's memory, and chronicling the political, social, and cultural life in Irbid city.
