Municipality of AlKarak The victims of the weather depressions have not been compensated yet

Khaberni - The head of the interim committee for the Greater Al-Karak Municipality, Mohammad Al-Manaseer, stated on Tuesday that the weather depression victims have not yet been compensated.

Al-Manaseer added in statements to "Al-Mamlaka" TV that Al-Karak Municipality has not been financially supported, noting at the same time the allocation of 90,000 Dinars for a completely severed road due to the weather depression, in addition to 133,000 for hotspots, which does not reach 5% of the needed requirements.

The Ministries of Social Development, Endowments, Islamic Affairs, and Agriculture, in coordination with the Prime Ministry, announced in January 2026 about activating social protection mechanisms; to compensate the victims affected by the weather conditions that hit some provinces, for those who meet the criteria and instructions.

Al-Manaseer said that preliminary assessments in Al-Karak Municipality indicate that the most affected areas, especially the villages of Wadi Al-Karak, need no less than 3.5 million Dinars, an amount that has not arrived, expressing his fear of the coming winter approaching without fundamentally solving the problems.

The Director of the Meteorological Department, Raed Al Khattab, clarified in a previous statement that Al-Karak Governorate experienced during the recent weather depressions the highest rates of rainfall since 1971, which led to the formation of floods and landslides due to the mountainous nature of the area.
