Khaberni - The Faculty of Media at the Middle East University organized a dialogue meeting during which the former Minister of Information, His Excellency Dr. Sakhr Dodin, was hosted, with the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, His Excellency Dr. Yacoub Nasser Al-Din, the Dean of the College Dr. Ramez Abu Haseera, and the Deputy Professor Dr. Tamara Nasser Al-Din, along with members of the teaching and administrative staffs and a group of students.
During the meeting, which was moderated by the media professional Professor Dr. Hani Al-Badri, Dodin said that rumors grow and thrive in environments suffering from the absence of information and its clarity, pointing out that the lack of information flow creates a fertile ground for the spread of inaccurate news.
He noted that circulating information linked to inciting strife without verification is one of the most dangerous media practices, warning against being drawn into attempts at misinformation.
Dodin emphasized the importance of instilling critical thinking skills and media literacy in students, enabling them to verify information and deal consciously with circulated content, contributing to the preparation of a media generation capable of facing rumors professionally and responsibly.
In his intervention, the president of the university's board of trustees, His Excellency Dr. Yacoub Nasser Al-Din, explained the concept of the state's strategic depth.
He stressed the need for rational thinking in dealing with rumors and verifying information before circulating it, in accordance with the supreme interest of the state, urging reliance on official sources and obtaining information from trusted entities, noting that Jordan's sovereignty and national security are top priorities that are non-negotiable.
