Khaberni - The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, welcomed the announcement by US President Donald Trump, today, Thursday, of a ceasefire in Lebanon for 10 days, effective from midnight tonight.
He confirmed that this represents a positive development, especially in terms of ending the suffering of the Lebanese people, expressing his deep appreciation for the diplomatic efforts made by a number of Arab countries towards reaching this agreement.
The official spokesman for the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Jamal Rashdi, clarified that the Secretary-General emphasized the importance of all relevant parties' commitment to the ceasefire once it comes into effect, calling for taking advantage of this opportunity as it represents an important step towards facilitating serious negotiations that lead to a lasting ceasefire in Lebanon.
The official spokesman affirmed the Arab League's supportive stance for all decisions and measures taken by the Lebanese state in order to fully establish state authority over all its territories, ensuring the enhancement of its constitutional institutions and the preservation of national security and stability.
