Khaberni - The ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel has come into effect, a step aimed at ending the military escalation between the sides.
US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that Israel and Lebanon have agreed on a ten-day truce beginning at 5:00 PM Eastern Time (21:00 GMT), marking a temporary cessation of the conflict involving the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group, which erupted in conjunction with the war with Iran.
An American official said the ceasefire would begin today, Thursday.
The Israeli campaign in Lebanon emerged as a major obstacle to achieving the peace agreement sought by Trump to end the war on Iran, which he initiated with Israel in late February, leading to disruptions in global energy trade, rising oil prices, and warning of further economic repercussions.
