AlSafadi and his Japanese counterpart discuss developments in the region

Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi received a phone call from Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi on Wednesday.

During the call, the ministers discussed the developments in the region, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, and coordination of efforts to restore security and stability in the region.

Safadi and Motegi welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, and emphasized their support for efforts aimed at achieving sustained calm.

Safadi stressed the necessity for the talks between the United States and Iran to yield an agreement that ensures security and stability, respects international law and state sovereignty, and addresses all causes of tension over the past years.

The ministers also discussed the serious deterioration of the situation in Lebanon, where Safadi stressed the immediate need to halt the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, and support the Lebanese government in its efforts to enforce its sovereignty over all its territories.

The ministers stressed the necessity to stabilize the situation in Gaza and implement all the terms of the ceasefire agreement.

Safadi informed his Japanese counterpart about the serious deterioration in the West Bank as a result of illegitimate Israeli actions undermining the two-state solution, including settlement expansion, annexation of Palestinian territories, and violation of Muslims' and Christians' right to worship.

Safadi emphasized the need to launch a real and influential international effort to stop these measures.

The ministers affirmed the depth of the strategic partnership between the Kingdom and Japan, and discussed practical steps to increase cooperation in several vital areas.
