Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, received today the Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Vice President of the State of Palestine, Hussein Al-Sheikh.
Safadi and Al-Sheikh discussed the situation in Gaza, and emphasized the necessity to implement all clauses of the ceasefire agreement and the immediate and adequate entry of aid into Gaza.
Safadi and Al-Sheikh also stressed the need for immediate and effective regional and international action to stop the illegitimate Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which undermine the two-state solution and kill the chances of achieving fair peace.
They warned of the catastrophic consequences if Israel continues to annex Palestinian lands, expand settlements, and attempt to change the historical and legal status of occupied Jerusalem and its holy sites, and deny Muslims and Christians their right to practice their religious rites in their holy places.
Safadi and Al-Sheikh emphasized that the realization of an independent Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital based on the two-state solution, is the only way to achieve peace in the region.
