Today, Sunday, Palestinian historian Walid Khalidi passed away. He was one of the most prominent figures of the Khalidi family in Jerusalem, and a leading researcher who contributed to documenting Palestinian history and Israeli occupation crimes.
The Palestinian official news agency reported that Khalidi died in the city of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, at the age of 101.
Khalidi was the founder of the Institute for Palestine Studies in Beirut, which has become a primary reference for research on the history of the cause since its establishment in 1963.
Khalidi was born in occupied Jerusalem on July 16, 1925. He graduated from the University of Oxford in 1951 and served as a lecturer in political studies at the American University of Beirut until 1982, then as a researcher at the Harvard Center for International Affairs, and also lectured at Princeton and Oxford Universities.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas mourned Khalidi, saying that he dedicated his life to defending the Palestinian historical narrative and documenting the history of Palestine and its people.
