Khaberni - The Israeli army announced today, Wednesday, that troops from the Paratroopers Brigade found a tunnel belonging to the Palestinian resistance containing dozens of missiles and ammunition in southern Gaza Strip, before engineering units destroyed it.
The occupation army stated that the tunnel was discovered during operations carried out by its forces to remove what it described as "infrastructure of militants" above and below the ground in the area controlled by the army inside the Gaza Strip, defined as "the yellow line".
The army published a video clip, which it said documents an inspection operation carried out by a military dog from the special "Oketz" dog unit in the army, where the dog is seen exploring the tunnel opening and finding dozens of munitions inside it.
The army mentioned that using dogs in reconnaissance operations, especially inside tunnels, is a common method to assist soldiers in dealing with risks in unknown, dark, and narrow places.
The army also published another clip showing the moment the tunnel was blown up by military engineering units, where a large explosion was seen in an open area near a road.
It added that the destruction of the tunnel is part of ongoing operations in the area, which aim to remove what it described as the infrastructure of the resistance, according to what it said comes within the framework of ceasefire arrangements.
In a related context, the Israeli army announced in recent days the targeting of a number of militants in the Gaza Strip, and said that it had destroyed during the past months dozens of kilometers of underground tunnels in the Strip.
It added that on Sunday, it assassinated three militants belonging to different factions in Gaza during the previous week, including Alaa Imad Khamees Tarmas from "Army of Islam" in Gaza City, and Hassan Ibrahim Shahada Qahman from the Islamic Jihad Movement, in addition to Ahmed Khader, who he described as a leader in the Jabaliya battalion belonging to the Hamas movement.
