Khaberni - Israeli media outlets revealed this Wednesday evening that the Israeli army had indeed prepared targets for strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon and presented them to the political level, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to delay their execution due to fears of a reaction from the US administration.
A senior Israeli military source told "Walla!" that "the Israeli military had finished preparing targets for the strikes and transferred them to the political level", indicating that the final decision regarding the execution of the operations is subject to the political leadership.
According to the report, Netanyahu is hindering the execution of the military response against Hezbollah at this stage due to fears of Israeli exposure to criticism from the White House, amid attempts to maintain coordination with the United States on security developments in the region.
Earlier today, the Israeli military spokesman in Arabic issued an urgent evacuation warning for residents of the town of Mansouri in southern Lebanon, on the grounds of "a violation of the ceasefire agreement by Hezbollah".
The spokesperson said, "The Israeli military is forced to act against Hezbollah forcefully," adding: "The army has no intention to harm you, and for your own safety, you must evacuate your homes immediately and move away from the town northward for a distance of no less than one thousand meters, to open areas."
He added that "anyone located near Hezbollah elements or its facilities and means of combat is risking their life."
Shortly after, the Israeli military announced the start of "precision strikes" in southern Lebanon, stating that the operations were in response to what it described as "violations of the ceasefire agreement by Hezbollah".
The military clarified that the town of Mansouri is located within "the security zone under its control", which still witnesses military activity, according to its statement, noting that the evacuation of residents was for their "protection".
It also claimed that some civilians reached the area under the protection of the Lebanese army, which set up a barrier there contrary to the agreements, according to the Israeli narrative.
This comes amid escalating tensions on the Lebanese-Israeli border, with Israel repeatedly accusing Hezbollah of breaching ceasefire arrangements, while Lebanon insists on the withdrawal of Israeli forces from areas still occupied in southern Lebanon.
