Khaberni - Palestinian Foreign Minister Faresin Shaheen stated on Wednesday that the meeting to support Jerusalem and its holy sites was held despite the challenges faced by the region and their impact on the Palestinian issue, emphasizing that Jerusalem remains the central issue and the greatest threat to security, stability, and peace in the region.
Shaheen added, during a joint press conference that included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs Badr Abdel Aati, and the Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Fahmy, following the ministerial meeting held in Amman to support Jerusalem and its holy sites, that the meeting took place in "the darkest circumstances" that Palestine in general, and Jerusalem in particular, is undergoing.
She reiterated the meeting's emphasis on the centrality of Jerusalem, emphasizing the need to move from statements of condemnation and denunciation to taking concrete actions on the ground that ensure Jerusalemites feel that practical steps are contributing to securing their presence on their land.
Shaheen explained that the discussions focused on three main axes that were agreed upon, consisting of exposing Israeli violations and bringing them to the world, describing their impact on the Palestinian people and their future, in addition to enhancing the resilience of Jerusalemites, and supporting the international movement required to protect Jerusalem.
She stated that Israel is "exposed today," but what is required is the continuous exposure of its violations and clarification of their implications on the Palestinian people and their future. According to her assessment, the Israeli objective is to undermine the two-state solution, put an end to the Palestinian issue, and displace Palestinians, maintaining Israeli dominance not only in Jerusalem but also in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and beyond.
She added that Palestinians are facing what she described as attempts to reach the "illusion of Greater Israel," affirming that the resilience of the people of Jerusalem needs resources and support to maintain their stability in their city.
Shaheen called on Arab and Islamic countries to continue supporting the needs of the Palestinian people in Jerusalem and to work together to enhance the resilience of Jerusalemites.
She stressed the importance of continuing coordination and joint action, noting the emergence of a movement involving the Arab and Islamic worlds aimed at enhancing international influence and working more effectively to protect Jerusalem and its holy sites.
