Government Coordination with Trade and Service Sectors to Ensure Smooth Movement of Goods to the Kingdom

Khaberni - The follow-up committee for supply and provisioning operations to the Kingdom, formed by the chambers of commerce of Jordan and Amman,  discussed during a meeting,  the implications of regional developments and the war on Iran and their reflections on supply chains and the movement of shipping, transportation, and trade for the local market.
The participants in the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Transport Dr. Nidal al-Qatamin and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Engineer Yarub Al-Qudah, emphasized the importance of working with the spirit of a single national team to monitor regional developments and assess their reflections on trade and transport movement and supply chains, and to take proactive measures that ensure the continuous flow of goods and merchandise to the local markets without any disturbances.
According to a statement from the Amman Chamber of Commerce today, Saturday, the participants in the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Amman Chamber of Commerce,  stressed the need to enhance coordination and continuous consultation between governmental entities and the trade and services sector, to ensure a quick response to any potential challenges that may face transportation, shipping, and customs clearance, and to maintain the efficiency of supply chains and the stability of local markets.
During the meeting, the reality of navigation and transportation movement and supply chains under the current regional circumstances and the increase in shipping fees and the imposition of additional fees  by shipping lines due to conflicts in the organization and the risks arising from them were reviewed.
Possible scenarios of developments and their effects on regional trade movement were also discussed, with an emphasis on the importance of institutional readiness and integration among various concerned entities to ensure the continuity of the flow of goods and merchandise to the Kingdom.
The Chairman of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Commerce, chairman of the committee  Senator Khalil Haj Tawfiq said that the committee will remain in permanent session to perform its duties and follow regional developments and evaluate their impact on trade and transportation movement, and put forward appropriate solutions to address any challenges that may arise, which enhances the resilience of the national economy and its ability to deal with regional changes.
The meeting was attended by the General Director of Jordan Customs, Brigadier General Customs Ahmad Al-Akalik,  and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport Fares Abu Diyeh and the General Director of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority Engineer Riyad Al-Kharabsheh, and a representative of the services and consulting sector in the Jordan Chamber of Commerce Jamal Al-Rifai, and the Chairman of the Jordanian Logistics Union Nabil Al-Khatib. 
The meeting also included the President of the Jordan Navigation Union Zaid Al-Kalaldeh and the President of the Union of Clearing and Freight Forwarding Companies Dr. Daifallah Abu Aqqoula,  along with directors and representatives of global shipping lines and several members of the board of directors of the Amman Chamber of Commerce.
