Foreign Affairs Killing of Jordanians Recruited to Fight with the Russian Army

Khaberni - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has confirmed, through its Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs, in the framework of its continuous monitoring of deceiving operations by foreign entities with the purpose of illegal recruitment, that it is following up on details related to the killing of two Jordanian nationals after their recruitment to fight with the Russian army. It also confirmed that it is coordinating with relevant entities to repatriate the bodies of nationals killed as a result of their recruitment, asking God Almighty to envelop them in His vast mercy and to grant patience and solace to their families.

Moreover, the official spokesperson of the ministry, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, reaffirmed that recruiting Jordanians to fight in foreign armies constitutes a violation of both Jordanian and international law, and endangers the lives of citizens.

Al-Majali stated that the ministry urges citizens to report any recruitment attempts into the Russian army and warns against dealing with such matters due to the risk they pose to citizens' lives and their violation of the law.

‏Al-Majali clarified that the ministry demands the Russian authorities to stop recruiting Jordanians and to cease the recruitment of any Jordanian who was previously recruited in the Russian army, and that it will take all available measures to halt this process.

Al-Majali again warned of entities operating through the internet to deceive and recruit Jordanians into a foreign army, confirming that the ministry, in coordination with relevant national institutions, continues to monitor these entities and take the necessary legal and diplomatic measures to halt these practices and protect Jordanian citizens.
