Khaberni - In the past month of January, a total of 11 patents were registered, 10 of which are local.
According to the data from the Industrial Property Protection Directorate in the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply, the number of trademarks registered last January was 717, while the total number of renewed trademarks in the same month was 401.
According to the data, the Directorate renewed 28 patents and granted a license for the use of one trademark, allowed the change of name and address of 108 industrial properties, and transferred 70 properties.
According to the law, a patent is "any creative idea that the inventor arrives at in any of the technology fields, and relates to a product or a manufacturing method or both, which solves a specific problem in any of these fields".
Registering a patent involves "all the procedures related to patent applications that are submitted to the office starting from the stage of guiding the inventors on how to submit the application, ending with the issuance of the final patent certificate".
These procedures include a set of technical and formal operations related to examining the application to ensure it meets all the conditions specified in the law, and also include a set of operations connected to patent applications that are implemented to meet the needs of the third party from the public (the public excluding applicants, agents, and inventors) such as publishing in the Official Gazette or procedures for inspecting the register.
And "trademark" is any visible sign used or intended to be used by any person to distinguish their goods, products, or services from those of others.
