Freihat 15 of the Enumeration Phase Completed

Khaberni  - The Department of Statistics has completed the preparation and packaging stages of the General Census of Population and Housing, according to the Director General of the Department of Statistics, Haider Freihat.

Freihat stated during the Government Communication Forum titled "General Census of Population and Housing 2026" that the Department of Statistics has accomplished 15% of the enumeration phase, which is expected to be completed by the end of next June, confirming that all collected data is protected under the Statistics Law No. 8 of 2025, treated with total confidentiality, and used only for statistical purposes.

He called on citizens and non-Jordanian residents in the Kingdom to cooperate and facilitate the tasks of statistical researchers during their field visits, and to provide them with the required information.

The Department sent short text messages via phone to citizens and residents to inform about the launch of the 2026 Population Census, emphasizing the importance of cooperating with statistical researchers.

He explained that the Department of Statistics adopted a self-enumeration method by the citizen without the intervention of the statistical researcher for the first time in the history of population censuses in the Kingdom, aiming to develop data collection methodologies and keep up with the digital transformation.

"The Department of Statistics is moving towards adopting a mixed census model that combines field counting by the statistical researcher and methodical use of administrative records, for the purposes of improving data quality and efficiency of execution and reducing time and cost," according to Freihat.

Freihat pointed out that the real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 3% during the fourth quarter of last year compared to 2.6% in the last quarter of 2024, noting that the manufacturing industries sector recorded the highest contribution to the total growth by 0.87 percentage points, followed by the agriculture sector with 0.46, and then the mining and quarrying sector with 0.24 percentage points.

Freihat added that the unemployment rate for the total population in the Kingdom has decreased to 16.1%.
