Government disburses 62 million dinars for cancer treatment for 41 million citizens

Khaberni - The government has disbursed 62 million dinars to the Hussein Cancer Foundation as a first installment of the cost of implementing the insurance agreement for 4.1 million citizens at the Hussein Cancer Center, as part of the "Care" cancer treatment program, which was initiated at the beginning of this year.
The second and third payments, valued at 31 million dinars each, will be due during the second and fourth quarters of this year.

Under the agreement, citizens aged 60 years and older have been insured for treatment at the Hussein Cancer Center, they are the most susceptible and most costly according to specialized studies.

All Jordanian children and those aged 19 years and younger have also been insured for treatment at the center, in addition to insuring all beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund regardless of their age group.

The cost of the program is approximately 132.7 million dinars, of which the government covers approximately 124.1 million dinars, while the Hussein Cancer Foundation covers the remaining amount of about 8.6 million dinars.

The program relies on transitioning from the previous model that required exemptions to a more inclusive and effective sustainable insurance model, and electronic insurance cards have been issued within the Sanad application for all individuals covered by this insurance.
