International Coalition Forces Withdraw from AlTanf Base in Syria to Jordan

Khaberni - Two security sources said today, Wednesday, that the United States has evacuated its forces from the Al-Tanf military base in eastern Syria to Jordan.

As sources for the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported, the international coalition forces completely left the Al-Tanf base, located at the tri-border junction between Syria, Iraq, and Jordan, heading towards Jordanian territory, thus ending years of military presence in a strategic and sensitive area in the Syrian desert.

The base was handed over to the Defense Ministry in the transitional Syrian government, where the 54th Brigade began to deploy inside the base and its surroundings, establishing military posts and imposing strict security measures.

No official statement has been issued to clarify the management tasks of the base or the nature of deployment in the next phase.

It is worth mentioning that the international coalition forces have been stationed at Al-Tanf base since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution, declared the surrounding area a closed military zone with a diameter of 55 kilometers, and prevented the entry of regime forces and their allied groups, making the base a strategic pivot point for monitoring military movements and securing supply lines deep in the Syrian desert.
