Khaberni - Maher Abu Al-Summan, the Minister of Public Works and Housing, inspected on Tuesday a number of vital projects that the ministry is implementing in the governorates of Ma'an and Al-Karak, emphasizing the government's commitment to managing the financial resources allocated for capital projects in the best possible ways, to meet its goals in providing services to citizens, improving quality of life, and stimulating the economic activity.
Abu Al-Summan began the tour by reviewing the situation on the Ma'an-Aldorweh road, which has seen maintenance work completion for three main projects undertaken by the ministry to enhance the road's efficiency and ensure the safety of its users.
The visit also included an inspection of the maintenance and rehabilitation project of the Aldorweh Border Center in Ma'an, where the minister reviewed the completed works, which included the insulation of roofs of the immigration buildings for arrivals and departures, officers' barracks, customs residences, the one-stop shop building, residency of the General Intelligence Directorate, and the axial load building, as well as the rehabilitation of sanitary units and the installation of air conditioning systems to enhance facility efficiency and create a suitable work environment.
The tour included a visit to the Ma'an Military Hospital project, located next to Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, which involves the construction of a hospital with a capacity of 150 beds and a total area of approximately 29,700 square meters, including the main building and various service buildings.
The completion rate of the hospital project has reached about 97%, with the start of equipment and electromechanical systems testing and calibration work for air conditioning, water, and medical gases, carried out by a third party to ensure full readiness for initiating the handover procedures to the Royal Medical Services to begin furnishing and equipping it in preparation for operation.
In the governorate of Al-Karak, the minister reviewed a project to expand and reconstruct the Muhey–Al-Abyad road, which is 15 kilometers long and costs about 5 million dinars, where the completion rate has reached about 86%. The project aims to completely reconstruct the road, adjust its route, and create new culverts for water drainage.
Abu Al-Summan emphasized the need to intensify efforts to complete the project within the next two months.
