Fortification of the Dead Sea Road The government accelerates flood protection projects

Khaberni - Maher Abu Al-Samen, Minister of Public Works and Housing, inspected on Wednesday flood damage mitigation projects and the protection of water facilities at the Dead Sea road, Southern Jordan Valley.

Abu Al-Samen reviewed the progress in the construction of bridges in the Dead Sea area, which have reached a completion rate of 28%, including safeguarding the entrances and exits of Zarqa Ma'in bridge, reinforcing the Mujib bridge and the Ghor Al-Mazra’a culvert, in addition to addressing the erosions in Wadi Shaqiq bridge using gabion and concrete works and diverting the stream to ensure the sustainability of these structures against strong water flows.

In the Nimira area, he followed the progress of constructing the new box culvert, which includes 10 openings of 3×3 meters each, and the rehabilitation of the surrounding road, where the completion rate at this site has reached 15%.

He affirmed that these works aim to enhance the efficiency of rainwater drainage and ensure the safety of traffic on Wadi Araba road during harsh weather conditions.
