Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality commenced on Wednesday the initial stages of operation for waste collection and transport in the Zahran and Tariq areas, through service providing companies, as part of the strategic partnership launched by the municipality with Oman Vision for Processing and Recycling and three privately-owned companies to develop the solid waste management system to enhance efficiency and improve the level of services provided in various areas under the municipality of Amman.
The Deputy City Manager for Regions and Environment at the Amman Municipality, Mohammad Al-Faouri, confirmed that this phase is part of a gradual transition plan aimed at enhancing the efficiency and quality of sanitation services and waste collection and transport in Amman Municipality, where the operational rate will progressively increase from 10% to 100% over five months.
Al-Faouri explained that this partnership is expected to yield a financial saving estimated at about 130 million Dinars over ten years, in addition to providing about 2000 direct job opportunities.
