Khaberni - The Secretary-General of the Jordanian Judicial Council, Judge Ali Al-Mismi, emphasized on Wednesday the importance of achieving prompt justice, noting the necessity of reducing the duration of litigation amidst the challenges associated with the accumulation of cases and the procedures followed in the courts.
Al-Mismi stated during his speech for "Voice of the Kingdom" that technological advancement and the availability of electronic procedures, up to artificial intelligence technologies, impose a direction towards employing these tools in developing judicial work and expediting its procedures, thereby improving the efficiency of case resolution.
He pointed out that one of the most significant directions is working on amending legislation to ensure the adoption of electronic means in litigation procedures, making it the primary choice, alongside reducing reliance on traditional means.
He clarified that the current reality still heavily depends on traditional courts and paper files, despite some remote procedures, including conducting criminal trials without transporting detainees, which contributes to reducing risks and effort.
He drew attention to the importance of expanding the use of modern technologies to facilitate procedures for litigants and lawyers, especially in cases that do not require personal attendance, such as submitting pleadings, memos, and evidence, while maintaining sessions that require presence to ensure justice is achieved.
He emphasized the importance of electronic linking between institutions and official circles to facilitate access to data without delay, instead of requiring litigants to review them, indicating a move towards the use of electronic signatures in light of amendments to the Electronic Transactions Law.
He also mentioned the role of electronic means in improving notification procedures and reducing case delays, in addition to the possibility of hearing witnesses remotely in some cases, which contributes to speeding up procedures and reducing postponement periods.
On his part, Tareq Hamouri, a member of the committee for developing the judicial system and former minister, confirmed that His Majesty the King's meeting with the specialized committee to follow up on the development of the judicial apparatus and receiving its report carries significant political implications in the current regional and international circumstances, which witness crises, wars, and global preoccupation with food security and energy security.
He explained that the first message from the meeting underscores the importance of the judiciary and comprehensive justice in Jordan, as one of the vital facilities that attracts significant attention from the leadership, and constitutes a source of pride at the level of international indicators and comparisons.
He noted that the second message lies in the continued path of development and construction in Jordan despite the challenges and crises witnessed by the region, affirming that the work on developing and reviewing the judicial system continues unabated, even amid difficult political circumstances.
