The anniversary of the birthday of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, may God protect him, comes in a context of profound national significance, where we recall the journey of a leadership that chose from the first moment to make comprehensive development a state project, and the Jordanian individual its most precious pillar. This is not just an occasion read in the light of symbolic celebration, but as a moment to review a continuous modernization pathway, which redefined the relationship between the state, its citizens, the public policies, the economy, and between knowledge and production.
His Majesty the King has, through his political and economic vision, established an advanced concept of development based on the transition from crisis management to building systems, and from interim solutions to long-term strategic planning. It was clear that the option to invest in human capital was not merely a slogan but a state dogma, reflected in education policies, training, capacity building, and in supporting professionals as the driving force of the national economy and the real guarantee of its sustainability.
In the heart of this vision, engineering and technical sectors emerged as execution tools for economic revival and main drivers of value-added growth. His Majesty paid great attention to modern infrastructure, renewable energy, water management, transportation, housing, and digital transformation, recognizing that these sectors form the solid foundation for a competitive economy, provide an environment conducive to investment, and create quality job opportunities that incorporate national talents.
His Majesty's support for engineers was not just sector-specific but a strategic vision that sees the engineer as a partner in shaping policies, implementing plans, and protecting the public interest. The Jordanian engineer, with his expertise and competence, was present in major national projects, in modernization and building programs, and in the transfer and localization of knowledge, until Jordan became associated in the region and the world with engineering competence, and a high ability to manage complex projects according to the highest technical and professional standards.
From this perspective, the Jordan Engineers Association has taken its role as the national center of expertise, the incubator of the profession, and the partner of the state in the development path. The Association has not just fulfilled its regulatory role but has developed an integrated system that includes ongoing training and qualification, updating technical instructions, raising the efficiency of engineering supervision, supporting innovation and engineering entrepreneurship, and building cooperation bridges with the public and private sectors, ensuring the alignment of the outcomes of engineering education with market requirements, and pre-empting the rapid economic and technological transformations.
Moreover, in accordance with royal directives, the Association has diligently worked to protect the profession from any decline in standards, recognizing that the quality of development is only achieved through execution quality, and that the safety of citizens and sustainability of resources are red lines that must not be compromised. At the same time, the Association has balanced raising efficiency and protecting the rights of engineers, particularly recent graduates, through well-considered training and employment programs that enhance their chances in the job market and offer them a career path based on competence and experience.
What we witness today of regional and international economic challenges confirms the correctness of the royal vision that bet on the qualified human, applied knowledge, and sound governance. The countries that have national expertise capable of planning and executing are the most able to withstand challenges, the quickest in recovery, and the most ready to seize opportunities. Here, the role of professionals, led by engineers, emerges as the first line of defense for the stability and progress of the state.
On the anniversary of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s birthday, we at the Jordan Engineers Association affirm our unwavering commitment to continue this national mission, to remain an active partner in the comprehensive modernization project, to empower the Jordanian engineer to be a productive, creative, and competitive element locally, regionally, and globally, carrying the values of the profession, adhering to its ethics, and contributing to building a strong, modern, and sustainable Jordan.
