Khaberni - As part of a series of charitable initiatives adopted by Amman Arab University, and activating the university's role in meaningful community partnership, the Dean of Student Affairs / Student Activities Department at the university organized a volunteer visit to Samir Shama homes for elderly care, with the participation of (40) male and female students from various university disciplines.
The aim of the visit was to bring joy and pleasure to the hearts of the elderly and to enhance the bonds of affection and human communication between them and the students of Amman Arab University, and to instill values of respect and appreciation for this dear community group. The visit included presenting symbolic gifts, exchanging friendly conversations, along with organizing a series of recreational and social activities that considered their psychological and social needs, and contributed to creating a positive atmosphere filled with love and interaction. This visit also reflected the university's commitment to developing the humanitarian and social sense among its students, enhancing the concept of social responsibility and volunteer work, which contributes to strengthening the spirit of social solidarity and reinforcing the community partnership between academic institutions and various community groups.
The delegation of Amman Arab University was headed by Mr. Fuad Tabishat, Head of Student Activities Department, representing Dr. Mohammed bin Tarif, Dean of Student Affairs at the university. He conveyed his thanks to the General Manager of Samir Shama homes, Dr. Hamood Lassasmeh, and to those in charge of elderly care, confirming the continuation of such visits by the students of Amman Arab University, reflecting the university's commitment to its community role. He emphasized the pivotal role played by the Dean of Student Affairs in cooperation with student clubs in organizing such purposeful visits, which have an effective impact in enhancing humanitarian values among students, and instilling a culture of social responsibility and volunteer work serving the community. He explained that the interaction of youth with different community groups, especially the elderly, contributes to building a socially balanced personality and enhances the spirit of belonging, appreciation, and respect among students.
The participating students expressed their great happiness with this experience, confirming that the visit provided them a valuable opportunity to interact with the elderly and benefit from their life experiences and wisdom, and to enhance their social communication skills. They explained that seeing the smiles on the faces of the elderly participants was one of the most beautiful moments, as the activity contributed to creating an interactive environment that enhances the human bonds between different generations.
