Khaberni - The three electricity distribution companies; the Jordan Electric Power Company, Irbid Electricity Company, and the Electricity Distribution Company, categorically denied what was circulated in some media and social media platforms regarding statements attributed to MP Qasim Al-Qubbaj about the distribution companies' decision to charge the “electricity loss” on subscribers' bills during December and January.
The companies confirmed that they did not participate in the meeting referred to with the parliamentary energy committee, and that no statement or official stance was issued by them approving such an action, emphasizing that the official meeting records prove that no representative from the three companies attended that meeting, and that the circulated statements are inaccurate and do not reflect the reality of what happened.
The companies clarified that the calculation of the electricity bill is exclusively based on the officially approved electric tariff by the Energy and Mineral Regulatory Commission, and is based solely on the actual consumption recorded on the meter, without adding any burdens or percentages or items related to the electrical loss, confirming that there is no mechanism or decision that allows charging the subscribers the cost of the loss directly or indirectly.
In this context, the electricity companies urged the media and citizens to obtain information from their official authorized sources, and not to follow rumors or inaccurate interpretations, affirming their full commitment to transparency and protecting the rights of subscribers and their right to obtain accurate and clear information, thus enhancing mutual trust and preserving the stability of the electricity sector and the quality of the service provided to citizens and its sustainability.
