Khaberni - The Qwen AI application from the "Alibaba" group surpassed the 100 million active monthly users mark in January 2026, concurrent with the release of a major update that deepens the application's integration into the company’s multi-service ecosystem, from online shopping to travel booking, aiming to make it a daily gateway reliant on artificial intelligence for completing daily tasks.
Wu Jia, vice president of "Alibaba," said at an event held in Hangzhou: "The digital assistant’s ability to interact with the real world is just as important as its function in the digital realm. It should help people complete their daily tasks."
Since November 2025, Qwen has become the fastest growing AI application in the world, having recorded the highest increase in active monthly users among AI applications by 149%, according to data from the AI product popularity tracking site "Aicpb".
The new update allows the application to coordinate seamlessly across all "Alibaba" services, enabling users to accomplish multiple tasks, from shopping and food delivery to booking trips and movie tickets, using simple voice commands, avoiding the need to switch between different services and repetitive clicking.
Wu gave an example of planning a family holiday during the upcoming Lunar New Year, where Qwen automatically suggested destinations, compared flight prices, booked hotels, and suggested tourist attractions.
Wu also demonstrated on the platform how he ordered 40 cups of milk tea from a nearby store to be delivered directly to the event site, with his only intervention being to enter the payment code.
The update also added a Task Assistant feature to expand the range of digital tasks the application can handle, expecting artificial intelligence to take over 70% of these tasks within two years.
Qwen can now manage more than 400 digital tasks including coding, office collaboration, data analysis, report preparation, and others.
To ensure accuracy of responses, "Alibaba" collaborates with professional database providers in various fields such as medicine, health, finance, law, and academia, to supply Qwen with reliable and updated information, according to Wu Jia.
