Khaberni - Tariq Abu Al-Ragheb, former Head of the Media Authority, said that the escalating attack on the Minister of Labor, Khaled Al-Bakkar, seems neither spontaneous nor innocent, has an organized and exaggerated characteristic, and calls for pause and questioning.
In a post on his personal Facebook page today, Saturday, Abu Al-Ragheb added that the confrontations that occurred under the dome of the Parliament are not new to parliamentary work, and were never a reason for launching defamation campaigns of this scale, considering that magnifying them through social media is abnormal.
Abu Al-Ragheb discussed the matter circulating about the appointment of the minister's daughter, asserting that justice demands posing questions rather than hurling accusations, wondering:
Is there any proven legal violation?
Has fair competition been bypassed?
And were more deserving competences excluded?
He stressed that criticism is a legitimate right, but turning unproven suspicions into ready convictions harms the role of oversight and does not serve the public interest.
Abu Al-Ragheb clarified that he has no personal relationship with the Minister of Labor, but there had been previous disagreements between them, affirming that the difference does not justify injustice, and it is not permissible to put a minister whose ministry has registered clear achievements under the guillotine of targeting, while turning a blind eye to blatant negligence in others without accountability.
Abu Al-Ragheb concluded his post by emphasizing that justice should not be selective, and that fairness must be a universal standard applied to everyone.
