Jordan Heavy Rainfalls Hail and Weather Warnings

The Meteorological Administration stated that the Kingdom is gradually affected, starting from Friday morning, by a low pressure accompanied by a cold and humid air mass, leading to a noticeable decrease in temperatures, and prevailing cold and partly cloudy weather conditions that will turn to cloudy.

The Meteorological Administration added that rain will start to fall in the north of the Kingdom and parts of the central regions, before extending later to most areas, while a cold air front crosses the Kingdom during the afternoon hours, accompanied by occasional heavy rainfalls, especially in the north, central, and southwestern regions, including the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea, possibly accompanied by thunder and hail.

The administration warned of the danger of floods forming in valleys and low-lying areas and rising water levels, urging citizens to stay away from flood channels and not to risk crossing areas of accumulated rainwater. It also alerted to the danger of reduced horizontal visibility due to fog and low clouds, in addition to the activity of west to northwest winds, which may reach gusts of up to 65 km/h.

It indicated that the intensity of the rainfall will weaken during the night hours, with the possibility of light and intermittent snow showers mixed with rain for a short period during the late night and early morning hours of Saturday on the high peaks of the Sharah Mountains.

On Saturday, the weather will be cold and partly to occasionally fully cloudy, with the continued possibility of scattered rain showers in parts of the western regions, while fog will form at night over the mountainous highlands and plains, with warnings of the risk of frost in the late night hours.

As for Sunday, a slight rise in temperatures will occur, and the conditions will be stable and cold in most areas, and pleasant in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, with warnings of fog and frost formation in the early morning hours over the high mountainous highlands.
