Faisal AlFayez Calls for Activation of Cooperation Protocols Between Jordan and Mexico

Khaberni - Faisal Al-Fayez, President of the Senate, met with Mexican Foreign Minister Juan Ramon De La Fuente, and discussed ways to enhance and promote Jordanian-Mexican relations in various fields to serve the common interests of the two friendly countries.

According to a statement from the Senate, the meeting which also addressed the current situation in the Middle East, was held on the sidelines of Al-Fayez’s participation in the 46th Annual Forum of the Parliamentarians for Global Action, and the 4th meeting of the Advisory Assembly of Parliamentarians for the Oceans, held at the Mexican Senate in Mexico City.

During the meeting, Al-Fayez emphasized the importance of enhancing relations between the two friendly countries and continuing to deepen them in various fields, pointing out the importance of establishing a Jordanian-Mexican business council to facilitate direct communication between Jordanian and Mexican business sectors in various fields.

He called for the activation of signed agreements and cooperation protocols between Jordan and Mexico, stressing Jordan’s commitment to promoting bilateral relations between the two countries, increasing trade exchange, establishing joint investments, and facilitating inter-trade movement.

During the meeting, the President of the Senate presented the current situation in the Middle East, noting, “The region is suffering from security and political conflicts due to the aggressive and expansionist policies of the occupying state and the lack of a political horizon that could end the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and enable them to their legitimate rights. In addition to the repercussions of the Iranian-American-Israeli war, which now threatens security and stability in the region and the world, and forewarns catastrophic consequences unless it stops.”

Al-Fayez referred to the ongoing efforts and endeavors of His Majesty King Abdullah II to restore security and stability in the region, based on international legitimacy decisions and the United Nations Charter.

He stated, “His Majesty the King continues efforts at various regional, Arab, and international levels to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and stop the Israeli aggression, promoting the values of love and tolerance and building a humane society free from violence and hatred.”

Al-Fayez pointed out that His Majesty warns of the continuation of Israeli aggression and the worsening humanitarian crisis in Palestine, and the risks of escalation in the region, threatening security and stability regionally and globally.

The meeting also discussed the Iranian-American-Israeli war and its repercussions on security and stability in the Middle East and world countries. He said that the expansion of the war in the region will lead it to further conflicts, chaos and destruction, stressing that Jordan will not allow itself to be a battlefield for any party, as well as Jordan’s rejection of any aggression that affects its security, stability, sovereignty, or the security of Arab countries.

He added, “The Iranian attacks with missiles and drones on Jordan and the Arab countries are unacceptable, and are rejected and condemned.”

Al-Fayez pointed out that His Majesty King Abdullah II has emphasized the necessity of stopping this war because of its serious repercussions on the region and the world, calling on the international community, through intensive contacts and meetings he conducted with leaders and heads of state since the crisis began, to work towards achieving a comprehensive and sustainable calm that contributes to the restoration of stability and achieving peace for all.

He clarified that His Majesty the King affirms at the same time, the need for the international community to push the occupying state to implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, work to stop the suffering of the Palestinian people, and allow humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip.

Al-Fayez emphasized that Jordan rejects any solutions to the Palestinian issue that compromise its national constants, rejects the forced displacement of the Palestinian people, and considers it a war crime.

He highlighted the importance of Mexico and the international community generally supporting the efforts of His Majesty the King aimed at creating a political horizon that ends the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and leads to achieving a fair and comprehensive peace, based on the two-state solution and international legitimacy decisions, as it is the only solution that guarantees the security of all and the stability of the region. He appreciated Mexico's supportive positions for the two-state solution, and for the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

On his part, the Mexican Foreign Minister praised the wisdom of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who has managed to maintain security and stability in Jordan despite the surrounding conflicts.

He valued Jordan's assistance to Mexico in transporting Mexican citizens back to their country, who were in conflict zones in the Middle East during the past period. He said, “This Jordanian humanitarian stance is appreciated by the government and people of Mexico.”

He added, “We are keen to enhance relations of cooperation and partnership with Jordan, and we emphasize the importance of activating the agreements signed between the two friendly countries,” stating his eagerness to meet his Jordanian counterpart to discuss various issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by the Jordanian ambassador to Mexico Adli Al-Khaldi, the Mexican Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Maria Teresa Mercado, the chairwoman of the Committee on Foreign Relations Alejandra Murad, and the General Director of Political Coordination Pedro Matar.

Al-Fayez also met on the sidelines of his participation in the forum, with the Chairman of the “Parliamentarians for Global Action,” Member of Parliament Syed Naveed Qamar, and discussed ways to enhance parliamentary relations between Jordan and Pakistan, and the advancement of joint parliamentary work.

The meeting also discussed various current situations in the Middle East, the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people, and the repercussions of the Iranian-American-Israeli war on the region and the world.

In this context, Al-Fayez valued, the great efforts made by Pakistan to stop this war, stressing the importance of continuing to coordinate Jordanian-Pakistani efforts to stop conflicts in the Middle East, and stop Iranian attacks on Jordan and the Arab Gulf countries.

Al-Fayez mentioned the tremendous efforts made by His Majesty King Abdullah II at various regional and international levels to end conflicts in the region so that the peoples can enjoy security and stability.

It should be noted that the “Parliamentarians for Global Action,” is an international non-profit network comprising more than 1300 parliamentary members from about 111 countries, aimed at promoting democracy, human rights, the rule of law, peace, international justice, and gender equality, and works through direct parliamentary action at national and international levels.

Al-Fayez also met on the sidelines of his participation in the forum with the representative of the Greek Prime Minister at the forum, Member of the Greek Parliament, Donisy Teodora, and discussed the importance of promoting Jordanian-Greek parliamentary relations and unifying bilateral positions on various issues of mutual interest, addressed by various bodies and international parliamentary organizations.

The meeting addressed the current situations in the Middle East and the role required from parliaments to alleviate hotspots of tension and conflicts wherever they exist.
