Khaberni - US President Donald Trump said that Washington will "engage strongly" in the Venezuelan oil sector following the operation that led to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
He added to Fox News "We have the greatest oil companies in the world and we will engage strongly in that."
Trump also mentioned – at a press conference at the Mar-a-Lago resort – that the United States will push major American oil companies into Venezuela.
He continued that the US embargo on all Venezuelan oil is still fully in effect, noting that US military forces will remain in their positions until all American demands are fully met.
Trump confirmed the arrest of the Venezuelan president and his wife and their air transportation out of the country, after widespread strikes on Venezuela conducted early this morning, indicating that his administration is looking for his possible replacement.
A statement by the Venezuelan government today said that the goal of the US attack on Venezuela is to seize the country’s oil and minerals.
Two sources familiar with the operations of the Venezuelan state oil company (PDVSA) said today, Saturday, that oil production and refining are proceeding normally.
They added that the company's facilities were not damaged by the American attacks that targeted the transportation of President Nicolas Maduro out of the country, according to Reuters.
One of the sources explained that the port of La Guaira suffered significant damage, and the port is near the capital Caracas and is one of the largest ports in the country but is not used in oil operations.
In turn, US Vice President J.D. Vance said today, Saturday, that Venezuela has ignored several offers to reach a settlement, according to the French Press Agency.
Vance said on X News platform "The president (Trump) offered more than one way out but he was clear throughout this process: there must be an end to drug trafficking and the stolen oil returned to the United States."
