New Instructions for Displaying Tobacco Products at Sales Locations

Khaberni - Issued in the Official Gazette on Wednesday, revised instructions for the standards and conditions that must be met for displaying tobacco products at sales locations for the year 2025.

The new instructions require placing tobacco products in a non-visible location or in an upper or side display unit exclusively at payment points, with the display units only accessible to the seller.

It is also prohibited to sell tobacco products to those under the age of 18, which must be verified by presenting a personal ID card or any official document proving age.

According to the instructions, the upper and side display units should be covered with a black curtain, which is only opened by the seller during the sale of the product. It is forbidden to place any writings or images related to tobacco products, including logos and trademarks, on all sides, along with the mandatory placement of a warning statement indicating the dangers of smoking and the prohibition of selling these products to those under 18 years old.

The instructions have removed the phrase (the law of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply in paragraph (j) of it and replaced it with the phrase industry and trade law).

The instructions also removed the phrase stating that it should be closed on three sides and accessible to the seller only, with half of the front of the side unit being non-transparent on the bottom as stated at the end of paragraph (e) of it and replaced it with a phrase indicating it should be accessible to the seller only.

Article (4) of the original instructions is modified by canceling the phrase at a distance of no less than (250) meters from the outer wall of the institution stated at its end and replacing it with a phrase at a distance of less than (250) meters on foot from the outer wall of the institution.
