Khaberni - On Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Al-Safadi, received the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the Syrian Arab Republic, Asaad Al-Shibani.
During the meeting, Al-Safadi and Al-Shibani discussed ways to enhance the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries. They affirmed the significance of the continuous development witnessed in the fraternal relations and the necessity of continuing joint efforts to expand cooperation in various fields, in a way that positively reflects on the interests of both countries.
The ministers also discussed the ongoing preparations between the foreign ministries of the two brotherly countries to prepare for holding the second session of the Supreme Coordination Council between the two brotherly countries.
Al-Safadi reaffirmed the steadfast position of the Kingdom in supporting the Syrian government in its efforts to protect Syria’s security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and in ensuring the safety of its citizens.
The ministers renewed their condemnation of the repeated Israeli attacks and raids on Syria and its interventions; flagrantly violating international law, assaulting Syria’s sovereignty, and breaching the disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel in 1974.
The ministers also discussed the serious escalation in the region, re-condemned the unjustified Iranian attacks on Jordan and the brotherly Gulf Arab states. They emphasized the necessity of adopting diplomacy as a means to resolve crises on principles that ensure respect for the sovereignty, security, and stability of states in accordance with international law.
Al-Safadi and Al-Shibani agreed to continue consultations and sustain cooperation between the two countries in various fields and to coordinate regarding issues of mutual interest.
