Khaberni - The Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, detected several assaults on the drinking water lines in the areas of Al-Taneeb and Al-Lubban in the capital, Amman, represented by illegal water withdrawal through lines (2 and 3 inches) branching from a main line with a diameter of 600 mm, to supply farms over long distances.

The ministry mentioned in a statement on Saturday that an illegal water line in the Mafraq governorate, supplying a farm and a house, was also detected, while in the Irbid governorate, and in coordination with Yarmouk Water Company, another line used to feed a nursery was detected.

It confirmed that all assaults were disconnected, and special reports were organized for each incident, with the commencement of investigations to identify the perpetrators in preparation for their referral to the competent authorities.

The ministry praised the efforts of the Public Security personnel, represented by the Badiya Al-Jeeza security center, the Gendarmerie forces, and the Royal Administration for the Protection of the Environment and Tourism, also appreciating the role of citizens in reporting these violations.

It emphasized that assaulting water sources is considered a crime that is punishable by law with long-term imprisonment, in addition to imposing hefty financial fines.
