Israeli sources Trump and Netanyahu set a twomonth deadline to disarm Hamas

Khaberni - Israel Hayom newspaper reported that the United States and Israel have set a two-month final deadline for dismantling the weaponry of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

The sources mentioned that an agreement was reached during a meeting between the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—who is required by the International Criminal Court for committing war crimes in Gaza—and the American President Donald Trump the day before yesterday, Monday in Florida, that joint teams would establish clear standards for what it means to actually disarm Hamas.

It was also agreed that the disarmament of Hamas includes the destruction of tunnels.

The sources stated that if Hamas's weapons are not dismantled, the ball will be back in Israel's and the army’s court.

The Economist magazine quoted US officials saying that Washington plans to start the reconstruction of Gaza within weeks, while expecting the disarmament process of Hamas to take much longer.

In the same context, Channel 12 Israel reported that an agreement was reached to commence reconstruction in Rafah (southern Gaza Strip), which is under military control, before the disarmament of Hamas.

Axios website reported from an American official and an informed source that Netanyahu agreed to move forward with the second phase of the Gaza agreement, despite differences with Trump's team regarding its implementation.

Trump expressed his hope to quickly move to the second phase of the agreement and said after his meeting with Netanyahu that Hamas would be given a brief period to relinquish its arms, and if it failed to do so, it would pay a heavy price.

Trump's plan
Israel Hayom reported yesterday, Tuesday, that Trump informed Netanyahu that he would unveil his next plan for the Gaza Strip on January 15, 2026, which includes the creation of an international supervisory authority that he is likely to chair.

It mentioned that Trump said during the meeting with Netanyahu in Florida, that the governing civilian entity (of Gaza) would be formed in the coming weeks, and would prepare to take over from Hamas.

On October 10th last year, the first phase of the ceasefire agreement came into effect, during which Israel violated some terms of the agreement and delayed moving to the second phase, using the remaining body of one of its soldiers in captivity in Gaza as an excuse, despite the Palestinian factions continuing their search for him amid the massive destruction caused by the Israeli genocide.

The agreement was supposed to end a mass genocide committed by Tel Aviv over two years starting from October 7, 2023, which resulted in more than 71,000 Palestinian martyrs and 171,000 injured, mostly children and women, yet Israel continues to this day its violations and its crippling siege of the Gaza Strip.
