Jordan warns of the repercussions of Israels illegal actions against UNRWA

Khaberni - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset's approval of a law targeting the operation and existence of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and undermining its ability to provide its vital humanitarian services, including allowing for the confiscation of its properties and the prohibition of providing essential services to its facilities, constituting a violation of the immunities and privileges of United Nations organizations and a flagrant breach of international law.

The ministry's spokesman, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, confirmed that the approval of these laws is part of a systematic campaign targeting the agency and continues Israel's attempts to politically assassinate the agency. It extends the illegitimate and null Israeli practices aimed at depriving the Palestinian people of vital rights and services recognized by the international community and related UN resolutions, especially Resolution 194. He clarified that Israel's actions constitute a breach of the relevant international laws and conventions and targets the symbolism of UNRWA, which affirms the Palestinian refugees' right to return and compensation according to international law.

Al-Majali warned of the repercussions of Israel's illegal actions against UNRWA and its institutions that provide irreplaceable services, calling on the international community to bear its legal and ethical responsibilities and confront the Israeli decisions and practices targeting UNRWA, and to provide the necessary political and financial support to enable the agency to continue providing its vital services to Palestinian refugees.
