Expansion of New Balama Municipal Boundaries

Khaberni  - The Cabinet decided, based on a recommendation from the Services, Infrastructure, and Social Affairs Committee, the nomination by the Minister of Local Administration, and the recommendation of the Governor of Mafraq, to approve the expansion of the new Bal'ama municipality boundaries in Mafraq Governorate.

The decision included annexing part of basin number (5) Abu Suneil from the lands of Thaghret Al-Jib, including all the lands located west of the Hundred Street and part of basin number (7) Al-Jouba Al-Gharbi from the lands of Thaghret Al-Jib, including all the lands located west of the Hundred Street up to the administrative boundaries of Bal'ama municipality, according to the plan prepared by the Ministry of Local Administration, according to opinion.

The Directorate of Municipal Affairs in Mafraq Governorate approved the new Bal'ama municipality's demands to annex new basins to its administrative boundaries in Mafraq Governorate.

The Governor of Mafraq, Firas Abu Al-Ghanem, recommended to the Ministry of Local Administration to approve annexing basin number (5) Abu Suneil and basin number (5) Al-Jawiya Al-Gharbi from the lands of Thaghret Al-Jib, based on the technical report from the Directorate of Municipal Affairs in the Governorate.

According to the technical report from the Directorate of Municipal Affairs, it has been annexed the aforementioned basins to the boundaries of Khalidiya municipality as per the esteemed Cabinet’s decision under letter number (25/6/3/10565) published in the Official Gazette issue number (5278) dated 1/4/2014.

The report clarified that Bal'ama municipality protested against the above decision and demanded that the discussed basins should belong to the boundaries of Bal'ama municipality. Accordingly, the Governor of Mafraq was addressed per the letter from the Director of Municipal Affairs of Mafraq Governorate number (33/9/902خ) dated 5/4/2018, which included the recommendation to exclude both basin number (5/ Abu Suneil) and basin number (7/ Al-Jouba Al-Gharbi) from the boundaries of Khalidiya municipality and to remain outside any municipal boundaries within the jurisdiction of the District Committee and the Directorate of Municipal Affairs of Mafraq Governorate.

The report confirmed that approval was granted by the Cabinet in its session held on 14/5/2018 based on the provisions of article (1/11) of the Municipalities Law number (41) for the year 2015, to exclude all the mentioned basins from the boundaries of Khalidiya municipality and that they are to be within the jurisdiction of the District Committee and the Directorate of Municipal Affairs of Mafraq Governorate.
