Khaberni - The latest outputs of computer simulation maps indicate the formation of a new low pressure system over the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea, gradually centering on Monday, December 29, 2025 to the north of Syria, and affecting Jordan, God willing, as a third-degree low pressure system (medium to high effectiveness).
Fast and Effective Low Pressure
This low pressure system is characterized by its rapid movement and short duration, yet it is effective in terms of rainfall and winds, as heavy rainfall is expected especially in the northern part of the kingdom, coinciding with strong wind activity in the southern and eastern areas.
It is expected to start in the late afternoon, and move away from Jordan during the night hours, according to Arab weather.
Weather Condition Details
Monday morning and early day:
Very cold weather prevails in various areas, with clouds appearing at multiple altitudes, and showers of rain falling periodically, concentrating in the north of the kingdom and extending to parts of the central areas.
Noon and afternoon of Monday:
A cold air front crosses the kingdom and peaks the low pressure's impact
The impact of the low pressure system gradually intensifies and a highly effective cold air front crosses the kingdom starting from the north, turning the skies to fully cloudy, and organizing the rainfall and expanding its scope from the north towards the center.
Warnings:
And the rains will be very heavy, with chances of lightning and thunder and hail, which may lead to:
- Streamflows of valleys and ravines
- Formation of floods including the northern valleys
- Water accumulations on the roads
- As low clouds crossing close to the ground surface, causing dense fog formation over the high mountain elevations, and leading to reductions or possibly zero horizontal visibility on some roads.
The air front reaching the south
During the afternoon and evening hours, the crossing of the cold air front completes over the kingdom’s atmosphere so that its effects reach the south of the country including the governorates of Karak and Tafilah and the southern valleys, where heavy rain is expected to increase the risk of valley streams and floods, and possibly erosion of soil and rocks in the affected areas.
And concurrently, the winds will be notably active in:
The plains areas
The desert
The southern highlands
Strong winds
And the winds will be strong, with severe gusts ranging between 90–100 km/hour, leading to the stirring of very dense dust storms in the eastern desert, including the international Baghdad road.
Monday/Tuesday night:
The low pressure system moves quickly away from the kingdom and its impact gradually decreases, with continued chances of scattered rain showers, especially in the southern areas, under cold conditions.
Summary and Classification of the Low Pressure System
* Classification: Third degree (medium - high effectiveness)
* Duration of impact: Rapid (about 15 hours)
* Period of impact: From Monday morning until Monday/Tuesday night
* Expected rainfall amounts: 25 – 90 mm
* Wind gust speeds: 90 km/hour and may exceed that locally
* Temperature ranges: 4 – 10 degrees Celsius
* Snow: Not expected
Key Recommendations During the Weather Condition:
* Wear warm clothes especially during night and early morning hours.
* Safe use of heating devices.
* Drive carefully and maintain a sufficient safety distance during rain and fog.
* Be aware of the danger of floods and streamflows especially in low-lying and southern areas.
* Beware of soil and rock collapses particularly in southern highlands.
* Be cautious of dense fog and reduce horizontal visibility on external roads.
And God knows best.
