Information Technology in Amman Arab University Participates in the International Scientific Conference IEEE VIS 2025 in Austr

As part of its ongoing pursuit of leadership and excellence in the fields of applied and technical scientific research, and in line with its strategy aimed at enhancing its international academic presence and networking with global experts and institutions, the Faculty of Information Technology at Amman Arab University participated in the 36th edition of the International Scientific Conference specialized in the field of Data Visualization and Analysis, IEEE VIS 2025, which was held in Vienna, Austria, represented by Dr. Alaa Abu Thawabeh, a faculty member in the Software Engineering Department.

Dr. Alaa Abu Thawabeh participated in an international research collaboration with Dr. Michael Optit from Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar, where they presented an applied scientific paper and a demonstration discussing the latest developments on the interactive graphical web application InViTAG, aimed at enabling researchers to explore and analyze image-linked data, including health data and data from various applied and research fields, such as industry, education, and gaming, employing artificial intelligence algorithms and machine learning in analysis and exploration processes.

The annual international conference, IEEE VIS 2025, is considered one of the most prominent global conferences in the field of Data Visualization, both in terms of the number of research citations and the acceptance rate for scientific papers, which does not exceed (25%). The conference was opened by Professor Hans Christian Hage, scientific advisor and expert at Zuse-Institute Berlin (ZIB), with the title: "Visual Science: Turning Data Visualization into a Precise Field," attended by more than a thousand participants from elite researchers from prestigious global universities, in addition to participation and support from several major global companies in the fields of information technology, and the health and industrial sectors.

In this regard, Dr. Abu Thawabeh mentioned that the conference formed a distinguished scientific opportunity to meet leading experts in this field, including Professor Hans Hagen, and exchange scientific experiences, presenting the latest research and ideas in the fields of Data Visualization and analysis, human-computer interaction, computer graphics, virtual reality, and simulation, and their applications in various sectors such as architecture, heritage, natural and human sciences, and arts, stating that the conference included several scientific sessions and tracks in which theoretical papers, and specialized technical and applied works in the fields of Data Visualization, human-computer interaction, computer graphics, and virtual reality were presented, with a clear focus on employing the latest artificial intelligence technologies in various industrial and scientific fields.

The conference concluded with practical sessions and presentations focusing on the main real-world challenges facing different sectors, and the research opportunities they offer, which can be leveraged through the use of Data Visualization and artificial intelligence technologies, to be held in Boston IEEE VIS 2026.

Dr. Rami Sahweil, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at Amman Arab University, emphasized the importance of faculty members' participation in global scientific conferences, due to their pivotal role in promoting scientific and cultural exchange with international universities and research institutions, transferring modern knowledge and expertise to the local academic environment, positively reflecting on the development of curricula, enhancing the quality of scientific research, improving students’ skills, and aligning higher education outcomes with labor market requirements.

This participation reaffirms Amman Arab University's ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and development, enhancing theoretical and practical knowledge exchange, keeping abreast of the latest scientific and technological advancements on local and international levels, positively reflecting on the faculty members and students, and contributing to the sustainable development of the local community.
