Within the orientations of the Arab University of Amman aimed at supporting issues of empowering women and enhancing their role in society, and under the sponsorship of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Widian, the president of the university, the Dean of Student Affairs organized a seminar entitled: "Empowering Women", presented by Her Excellency Dr. Haifa Al-Najjar, former Minister of Culture, in the presence of Dr. Mohammad Bin Tarif, the Dean of Student Affairs, and several members of the faculty and administrative staff and university students.
On this occasion, Dr. Al-Widian affirmed the keenness of the Arab University of Amman to support women's participation and empowerment in various academic, administrative, and leadership fields, believing in their pivotal role as an active partner in the journey towards comprehensive development and decision-making, within the university's vision and mission to enshrine the values of justice and equal opportunities.
In this regard, Dr. Bin Tarif highlighted the tangible achievements of the university in the field of women's empowerment, where a number of female academics and staff have held various academic and administrative positions within the university, reflecting the commitment of the Arab University of Amman to implement supportive policies for women's empowerment and enhancing their role in various fields.
During the seminar, Her Excellency Dr. Al-Najjar emphasized that women’s empowerment begins with the family and education, as they are fundamental in building character and fostering values of responsibility and leadership, stressing that investing in teachers is a crucial pillar in improving the educational process and building generations capable of facing challenges. She discussed prominent stations from her professional journey and the experiences and qualitative experiences that accompanied it, especially in the field of education and management of international schools, and her role in the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Educational Excellence, highlighting the importance of aware educational leadership in making positive change. Moreover, she referred to the distinction of Jordanian women and their ability to assume advanced leadership roles in various educational, legal, and political sectors, appreciating the continuous support provided by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah to the teacher and the educational sector, and praising the role of the Arab University of Amman in promoting a culture of dialogue and empowering both students and women.
Prof. Dr. Suhaila Banat, a faculty member at the College of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the university, held a dialogue session with Her Excellency Dr. Haifa Al-Najjar during which she discussed the role of the family in character building and its impact on developing the skills of generations, in addition to showcasing her experiences in the educational field, emphasizing the importance of educational leadership and the role of the teacher in the educational process.
The seminar featured an interactive legal dialogue led by the student Mai Al-Basha from the Faculty of Law at the university, where she interviewed Dr. Al-Najjar and posed a series of legal questions related to women's issues, reflecting the awareness of students and their interest in discussing social issues from a legal perspective, and the role of universities in promoting a culture of constructive dialogue and developing critical thinking among students.
In conclusion, Dr. Bin Tarif, representing Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Widian, president of the Arab University of Amman, honored Her Excellency Dr. Haifa Al-Najjar in appreciation of her efforts in supporting and empowering women in Jordanian society, and her effective role in enhancing their participation at all levels.
