Khreisat Reveals Imported Olive Oil Launch Date in Markets

Minister of Agriculture Saeb Khreisat said that the imported olive oil will be available in the military and civilian institutions' markets and the local markets within a week to 10 days.

The minister indicated that the prices of imported olive oil will range between 5 Dinars and 5.5 Dinars per kilogram, clarifying that most of it will come from Tunisia while other quantities will be imported from Spain, according to the Kingdom.

Khreisat confirmed that the oil shipments have passed the accredited laboratory tests and have been granted certificates of origin, noting that they will undergo further testing upon arrival.

He said that the imported varieties will be of high quality (extra virgin from the 2025 production).

In previous statements, the minister said that the ministry resorted to opening the door for importing olive oil to address the shortage of the olive season and to reduce the burden on citizens.

According to a previous statement by the ministry, the import process takes place only from countries that are members of the International Olive Council, complying with international standards and ensuring the quality of the imported product.

The ministry published a set of instructions related to the import of olive oil, the most notable of which is providing a judicial commitment of (25,000) Jordanian Dinars ensuring not to sell the shipment outside the Jordanian markets.

The instructions also stipulate the need to adhere to not mixing or repackaging it for circulation in the local market or re-exporting it.
