85 million mobile subscriptions in Jordan

Khaberni - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority announced yesterday that the number of mobile telecommunications subscriptions in Jordan reached a record level at the end of the third quarter of the current year at 8.5 million subscriptions with a growth rate of 2.6% compared to the end of the same period last year.

The Authority stated in its quarterly statistical report for the telecommunications sector in the Kingdom that the fastest-growing service in the local telecommunications market is the fifth-generation service, which recorded approximately 287,000 subscriptions at the end of the third quarter, registering a significant growth rate of 310% compared to its number recorded at the end of the third quarter of 2024, according to Al-Ghad.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority published on its website yesterday its statistical report for the third quarter of the year 2025 for the telecommunications sector.
In detail, the indicators show an increase in the number of mobile telecommunications subscriptions to reach 8.48 million subscriptions compared with 8.26 million subscriptions for the third quarter of 2024, i.e., a growth rate of 2.6%, and an increase in the number of internet subscriptions to reach (824.3) thousand subscriptions compared with (799.7) thousand subscriptions for the third quarter of 2024, with a growth rate (3.1%).

 

Broadband mobile communications services

On the other hand, the report indicated that the total number of broadband mobile communications service subscriptions reached (8.48) million subscriptions compared to approximately 8.26 million subscriptions for the third quarter of 2024 with a growth rate (2.6%), distributed on 65% prepaid subscriptions and 35% postpaid subscriptions, while the ratio of subscriptions for (voice and data) lines was (80%), and subscriptions for data-only lines were (20%). The volume of mobile voice traffic reached approximately (7.3) billion minutes, distributed on
(97%) locally and (3%) internationally, and the number of text messages sent reached approximately (336.6) million text messages compared to approximately (333.6) million messages in the third quarter of 2024 with a growth rate (0.9%), and the penetration rate of mobile phone subscriptions by the end of the third quarter of 2025 was (71.4%) according to the total population compared to (70.8%) for the third quarter of 2024 with a penetration rate (110%) according to the population aged over 15 years old.
 The volume of data usage through broadband mobile communications services reached approximately (767.5) million gigabytes in the third quarter compared with approximately (652.9) million gigabytes in the third quarter of 2024, with a growth rate of (17.6%).

 

Fifth-generation mobile subscriptions

The report indicated that the number of fifth-generation mobile subscriptions has continued to rise significantly in the third quarter of 2025, where they totaled 287 thousand subscriptions compared to the second quarter of 2025, which recorded approximately (241) thousand subscriptions with a growth rate of about (19.1%), and a growth rate of (307%) compared to the third quarter of 2024, which had (70) thousand subscriptions.

 

Broadband fixed internet services

Regarding broadband fixed internet services, the report noted that there were approximately (824.3) thousand subscriptions compared to a total of (799.7) thousand subscriptions in the third quarter of 2024, with a growth rate (3.1%), and a penetration rate of (33.3%) relative to the number of households for the third quarter of 2025.
 Conversely, broadband internet subscriptions using (FBWA) technology accounted for (16%), while the percentage of internet service subscriptions using (xDSL) technology (6%), and likewise, the percentage of fiber technology subscriptions (77%) by the end of the third quarter, where fiber internet subscriptions totaled (637.4) thousand subscriptions during the third quarter of 2025.
And the volume of fixed broadband data usage reached approximately (1.5) billion gigabytes for the third quarter of 2025 compared with (1.4) billion gigabytes for the third quarter of 2024, with a growth rate (7.1%), with an average monthly internet use through fixed broadband reaching (625) gigabytes per subscription, which was approximately (564) gigabytes in the third quarter of 2024 with a growth rate (10.8%).

 

Fixed voice communication services

The total number of subscribers in fixed voice communication services reached approximately (478.6) thousand subscriptions for the third quarter compared to approximately (485.3) thousand subscriptions for the third quarter of 2024, where the decrease percentage was (1.4%).
 The residential sector represents (67%) of the total, and (33%) for the commercial sector. Regarding the volume of voice traffic consumed by subscribers via fixed phone, the report indicated recording approximately (10) million call minutes during the third quarter compared to approximately (12.6) million call minutes for the third quarter of 2024, declining by a percentage of (20.6%), including the local landline traffic between provinces and international phone traffic with countries around the world, distributed on local phone traffic by (83%), and (17%) of call minutes for international phone traffic.

 

 Leased line services

 The report indicated that the number of leased line service subscriptions reached (25.5) thousand subscriptions at the end of the third quarter of 2025 compared with (23.7) thousand subscriptions in the second quarter of 2024 and with a growth rate (7.6%).
