Khaberni - Walt Disney Company, on Sunday, stated that the third film in the "Avatar" series, directed by James Cameron, grossed about $345 million from ticket sales globally in its opening week.
The estimated sales of "Avatar: Fire and Ash" were in line with the pre-show expectations, which were at least $340 million.
This figure represents the second highest Hollywood movie opening for the year 2025, following "Zootopia 2" which made $556 million in November last year.
Disney stated that the total box office in the United States and Canada was $88 million.
The first installment of the "Avatar" films in 2009 recorded the highest ever box office sales globally, totaling $2.9 billion.
Meanwhile, the second part, "Avatar: The Way of Water," released in 2022, holds the third position with a total of $2.3 billion.
The fourth and fifth parts
The fourth and fifth installments are scheduled for release in 2029 and 2031, respectively, continuing the series' dominance with its fantasy stories and advanced cinematic technologies.
