Prison Sentence Against Mortada Mansour for Insulting and Slandering Amr Adeeb

Khaberni  - An Egyptian court decided today, Monday, to imprison counselor Mortada Mansour (a former deputy and former president of Zamalek Club) for a month with labor and to fine him 20,000 Egyptian pounds (about 370 US dollars), for insulting and slandering media figure Amr Adeeb.

Egyptian media stated that the judgment in the lawsuit, which carried number 2926 for the year 2026, included a bail of 10,000 pounds (185 USD) to temporarily suspend the execution of the sentence, and obligate the sentenced person to pay civil compensation of 10,000 pounds and court expenses.

The latest crisis between Mortada Mansour and Amr Adeeb traces back to August 2025, following a controversy over the withdrawal of Zamalek Club's land in the 6th of October City, with mutual accusations surrounding the club's management and financial and administrative affairs.

In an episode of the program «Al Hikaya» on MBC Egypt channel (August 2025), Amr Adeeb harshly criticized Mortada Mansour, using phrases Mansour considered "insulting, slandering, threatening, and defaming".

In response, Mortada Mansour strongly retaliated, filing about 40 complaints against Adeeb with the Public Prosecutor, and a complaint with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation against Adeeb and the MBC channel, accusing them of violating the Penal Code and the media honor code.

In turn, Amr Adeeb filed a report at the Al-Agouza Police Department (September 2025) against Mortada Mansour on charges of insults, slander, and defamation via social media platforms.

Mortada Mansour insulted and mocked Amr Adeeb during various media interventions, and videos he posted on his official social media accounts in the past months.
