By government order Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra transferred to a new hospital and his family refuses surgery

Khaberni - In a swift official response to the call of the distinguished artist Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra's family, Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar intervened to transfer the "giant of the theater" from the hospital where he was staying due to his recent health crisis, to another hospital under the ministry, to provide the utmost care and privacy.

In exclusive statements to "Alarabiya.net", the musician Ahmed Abu Zahra, the son of the famous artist, revealed that he personally contacted the Health Minister requesting his father's transfer, as the previously ICU had other cases, which hindered providing the necessary privacy for his father and raised family concerns about the potential for infection.

The artist's son confirmed that the minister responded immediately, whereby his father was moved to a private intensive care room under close medical supervision around the clock.

Refusal of surgical intervention
Medically speaking, Ahmed Abu Zahra disclosed his firm decision to reject any surgical intervention for his father, whether it was "exploratory endoscopy" or full surgery, despite the treating doctor's suggestion to perform a lung endoscopy to determine the nature of the crisis.

Abu Zahra attributed this refusal to his father's advanced age and critical health condition, which may not tolerate anesthesia or surgery, noting that his father's condition is currently relatively stable, expressing hope that the medical teams will not need to put him on mechanical ventilation in the next stage.

These developments come two weeks after the venerable artist suddenly fainted at home, where scans showed an "abnormal object" on the lung, raising suspicions that it might be a "tumor", a suspicion that has not yet been resolved due to the inability to perform the endoscopy.

Oxygen Levels
Ahmed Abu Zahra reassured the public that his father's vital functions such as pulse, kidneys, liver, sugar, and blood pressure are functioning normally, but the dilemma remains in the oxygen levels that only stabilize through a breathing mask.

He described his father's condition as fluctuating between unconsciousness and slight responsiveness for a few seconds when hearing the voices of family members only.

It is worth mentioning that the artist Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra, born in 1934 in the city of Damietta, is one of the pillars of Egyptian art since his graduation in 1958. He started his career on stage with "The Return of Youth" by Tawfiq Al-Hakim, and his star rose on TV in masterpieces like "I will not live in my father’s robe" and "King Farouk," and he also left an indelible mark in films like "Land of Fear" and "The Island". His voice will forever be etched in the memory of generations as the character "Scar" in the Arabic version of the movie "The Lion King".
