Khaberni - Supermodel Gigi Hadid expressed her intense anger after her name appeared in the files related to billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, convicted of sexual assault, describing the situation as "nauseating".
This came in response to a fan who threatened to boycott her on "Instagram", which Hadid posted on her social media account, then later deleted. However, the media managed to capture and publish it on Sunday.
Hadid added that it is "horrific to read about someone you have never met talking about you in this manner, especially in such a context."
The 30-year-old star confirmed that she had never met Epstein in her life, saying: "It is horrific to read about someone you have never met talking about you in such a disgraceful way, especially in this context. I have never encountered this monster in my life."
Hadid speculated that Epstein mentioning her name might be due to his trying to "craft the career paths of people" (attributing their success to himself) as a tool he used to manipulate his victims and control them.
Hadid explained that she initially did not comment in order to prevent her words from overshadowing the true victims' stories of Epstein, so it would not be misunderstood that she was trying to exploit the case. However, a comment from a fan made her realize that her silence could be misinterpreted, which prompted her to disclose her stance.
She also talked about her privileged childhood, confirming that although her parents provided her with a comfortable life, they instilled in her a love for hard work and self-reliance from an early age.
She revealed details about the beginning of her career in modeling, confirming that she signed her contract with IMG agency in 2012 and has been working hard ever since. She said she was 20 or 21 years old when that email was written about her, confirming no ties to "this disgusting human", and concluded her comment by saying: "may he rot in hell".
The fan replied that he felt "completely honored" by her response, for which she thanked him for his support.
It should be noted that the names of Gigi and her sister Bella appeared in an email dating back to December 2015 between Epstein and an unknown person (alleged to be connected to the fashion industry), where the latter wondered how the girls entered the world of modeling and achieved great wealth, expressing his surprise. In the heated discussion, the unknown person alleged that many girls provide sexual services to get opportunities, to which Epstein agreed, and when the unknown person directly questioned Epstein about the sisters, he responded with vulgar phrases without making a specific accusation.
