Khaberni - Russian psychiatrist and addiction specialist, Alexey Kazantsev, warns that sweets and candies that contain alcohol represent a significant danger to children's health.
In an interview with the website "360.ru", Kazantsev mentioned that some children and teenagers have recently started purchasing these sweets through online shopping platforms, warning that it could be the first step towards alcohol addiction, and could lead to severe poisoning of the body, and in extreme cases, to death.
He explained that the immature brains of children lack resistance to alcohol, so even a few pieces of these sweets can cause drunkenness and alcohol poisoning, and may open "gateways" for experimenting with other substances later.
He added that the human body continues to grow until the ages of 21-22 years, at which point the development of the frontal lobe of the brain, responsible for decision-making and critical thinking, is completed, making teenagers more susceptible to trying alcohol out of curiosity, especially with the prevalent adult consumption of it.
These warnings come as part of increased efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol-containing products aimed at young people, amid rising concerns about their effects on public health.
