Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shar`, yesterday Friday, inaugurated his official account on the "X" platform, in a step aimed at enhancing his digital presence and opening a direct communication channel with the public, to share his opinions and positions on current issues, in addition to conveying updates and official stances.
Al-Shar` explained, in his first post on the account, that this step comes from a belief in the importance of direct and transparent communication, indicating that the platform will be a means to convey information from its source, and interact with followers, keeping up with various developments.
He added that his official account will be dedicated to publishing statements and comments related to public affairs, as well as keeping the public informed on the latest developments in his work and activities, inviting those interested to follow the account and verify news through it, in the face of the proliferation of unreliable accounts.
In his first post, Al-Shar` published a video message congratulating the Syrian people for the lifting of sanctions imposed on the country under the "Caesar" Act.
The Syrian President said in his speech from Mount Qasioun: “Great Syrian people, peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings. I extend to you congratulations and thanks for the lifting of the sanctions on Syria, for today is the first day with Syria without sanctions, by Allah's grace, and then by your efforts and patience over 14 years."
He added: “Great thanks to everyone who sacrificed and endured during the blessed Syrian revolution, to those who inhaled chemical agents, to those who migrated and left their lands, to those who drowned in the seas, and to the blood of the martyrs which watered this blessed land, leading us to this great victory that culminated in the complete lifting of restrictions on Syria."
Al-Shar` also extended his thanks to U.S. President Donald Trump for responding to the call of the Syrian people, and to the members of Congress for appreciating the sacrifices of the Syrians and lifting the sanctions on the country.
He also thanked the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in addition to the Arab, Islamic, and European countries that supported the Syrian people during the war and contributed to lifting the sanctions in the last year.
Al-Shar` concluded his speech by saying: “Today is your day, great Syrian people, for the time of suffering has ended and the time of building begins by the will of Allah. Hand in hand, we build this nation to reach the highest ranks."
