Trump Suspends Green Card Lottery Program for Immigrants

Khaberni - President Donald Trump suspended the "Green Card" lottery program which allowed the suspect in the shooting incidents at Brown University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to enter the United States.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated on the social media platform "X" that, following Trump's directives, she orders the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to temporarily halt the program. The Diversity Visa program provides up to 50,000 "Green Cards" each year through a lottery to individuals from countries with low representation in the United States, many of which are in Africa.

Noem continued in the post: “This vile individual should never have been allowed to enter our country.”

The Diversity Visa program offers up to 50,000 "Green Cards" annually through a lottery to people from countries with minimal representation in the United States, many of which are in Africa.

Approximately 20 million people applied for the 2025 Visa lottery, and more than 131,000 people were selected when accounting for spouses along with the winners. After winning, they must undergo a screening process to gain entry permission into the United States.
