The floods caused by the unstable weather conditions in Aqaba Governorate, southern Jordan, led to significant damage to the infrastructure, particularly on the back road leading to square (4), where parts of it experienced cracks and collapses that prevented the passage of heavy trucks, leading to almost complete paralysis in the movement of ports.
Despite the announcement by Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority about a state of alert and readiness, rainwater invaded the roads, revealing the weakness of the drainage infrastructure.
Rainwater also seeped into the operations department at the Aqaba Ports Management and Operation Company, as well as a goods warehouse at the main Aqaba Port Company, which compounded the extent of the damage and directly affected the loading and unloading activities.
