Khaberni - The Iraqi Ministry of Oil recently confirmed that the total quantities of oil supplied to Jordan amounted to 272,000 barrels in the month of October (October) last, according to the latest official figures published after the resumption of exports to the Kingdom.
The figures indicate that the quantities imported during the same month last year reached about 318,000 barrels, according to Al-Ghad.
The supply of Iraqi oil to Jordan was stopped as of July last year, after the expiration of the oil export memorandum of understanding between the two countries. Iraq agreed to resume supply to the Kingdom since October 5, last and until January 31, 2026.
Jordan imports Iraqi oil on a regular basis, as part of a memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries for the first time in February 2019, and it is renewed annually.
Under this memorandum, Jordan continues to import quantities of crude oil ranging between 10,000 and 15,000 barrels per day, at a preferential price that is about $16 below the global price. These quantities are transported daily by 70 to 80 tankers, equally shared between Jordanian and Iraqi tankers.
Iraqi imports constitute between 7% and 10% of the Kingdom's total daily crude oil needs, while the remaining percentage is covered by importing through the company "Aramco" through periodic contracts, in addition to quantities that are refined at the petroleum refinery into oil derivatives, which equates to 45% of the Kingdom's needs.
