Khaberni - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that the occupation authorities are holding about 6,000 trucks loaded with food and relief materials, enough to meet the needs of the sector for a full 3 months, in addition to hundreds of thousands of tents and blankets designated for 1.3 million displaced people.
The agency's media advisor, Adnan Abu Hasna, confirmed in press statements today, Monday, that the number of trucks currently entering Gaza "formally exceeds" the previous rate before the ceasefire, yet these numbers are still far from meeting the immense needs that the sector suffers from after two years of war and siege.
He indicated that the occupation still prevents the entry of hundreds of vital items, which include health essentials, water, sanitation, and basic food materials.
Abu Hasna added that the majority of the Gaza population has almost completely lost their purchasing power, and that total dependency is the only remaining solution. He added that humanitarian organizations have submitted requests to enter essential materials to keep basic services running, such as spare parts for desalination and sanitation stations and medical equipment, as well as the entry of international teams and staff, however, the occupation refuses most of these requests, only permitting the entry of the minimum amount of food and some medicines.
